What are the first things to think about when buying lawn equipment?

1. What do you want to accomplish?  Do you only have a lawn or do you have trees, brushes, and gardens to take care of?  Purchase the right equipment.

2. Know what piece of lawn equipment goes with what task.  Besides mowers, you might want edgers and trimmers to catch the tight areas and rakes, brooms and blowers to clean up afterwards.

3. How large an area do you have to work on?  Make sure the mower you purchase can handle the task.

4. What is the terrain like?  Steep slopes don’t fare well with rider mowers, but they work well with walk-behind mowers.

5. Who will be using the equipment?  Make sure the end user can handle what you purchase.

6. Do you have specific features in mind?

7. How closely do you need to mow?  How many levels should the mower have?

8. Do you want to walk and push or sit when you use your mower?

9. What kind of fuel or power do you want to use?  Electric and gasoline powered mowers are available.

10. Do you need additives for your lawn such as fertilizer, seed, mulch, or insecticides?
